Christian Beliefs

The Bible is the only reliable source of information about God.  The Bible is a unique book that was originally written down in the Hebrew and Greek languages.  God used numberous individuals to record the Bible.  The Bible that we have today contains the same words written over 1,900 years ago; translated accurately into our language.  God gave us the bible to tell us everything we need to know about Salvation. It is not a frequently asked questions book (too bad for us!).  We do not pick and choose what parts of the bible to accept;  the words that God gave us through the Bible writers are without error and a great gift to the world.

2 Timothy 3:16
1 Corinthians 2:12-14
2 Peter 1:16-21

We were created by God, but rebelled against him and brought sin (evil) into the world. We are sinful people who are unable to be perfect on our own.  Take a look around the world and this becomes obvious.
Genesis 3
Psalm 51:5
Romans 3:23

We believe in one God who is three persons; the Father, Son (Jesus) and Holy Spirit.  This is a concept that is hard for us to grasp.  It doesn't seem to make sense to us, but we trust God and acknowledge that as humans some things are beyond our understanding.
Genesis 1:1-26
Isaiah 9:6-7
John 10:25-33
Acts 5:3-4
Matthew 28:18-20.

Salvation is a gift of God. The Bible makes it clear that we as sinful people, deserve death for our rebelliousness.  However, we are given forgiveness from God through Jesus Christ.  Jesus Christ came to this earth fully God and fully man.  He resisted temptation, lived a perfect life and was crucified for our sins.  He took the punishment for our own sin.  We deserved seperation from God, but Jesus became a replacement sacrifice for us and redeemed our relationship with God.  When we have Faith in Jesus Christ we are granted forgiveness of sins and eternal life.  It is not by our own works.  God did this for us because he is loving and merciful, as well as fair.
Romans 5:6-11
Ephesians 2:8-9

We communicate with God through Prayer.  God promises that if we speak to him, he will hear.  We should communicate our thanks, requests and needs to Him in prayer.  God will always respond to our prayers.  Sometimes he grants them, other times he does not and many times he asks us to wait.
1 John 5:14-15

Luke 11:9-13
James 5:16

We receive God’s gifts, praise him, and learn about him in Worship.
Deuteronomy 16:27-29
Psalm 100
John 4:23
Romans 12:1

Baptism is a gift given to us by God through water and the bible.  In Baptism, water is applied to a person (either by immersing them or pouring it over them) in the name of God.  In Baptism we are adopted as children of God, given the Holy Spirit and given Faith.  Baptism is a one-time gift of God; not a church membership ritual.  In baptism we do not discriminiate on basis of age or intelligence.  Jesus came for all people and freely gives this gift to all people.
Matthew 28:19-20
Mark 10:13-16

Acts 2:38-39
Acts 16:30-34

The Lord’s Supper is a special meal given to us by God in which we eat bread and wine with the body and blood of Jesus Christ for forgiveness of sins. We don’t attempt to explain the technicalities of how His body and blood can be in the bread and wine; it's a great mystery and we take God’s word for it.  We realize that the Lord's Supper may sound pretty weird to those of you who are new to Christianity, but stick with it!  Once you begin to explore the bible God will help you understand this awesome gift.  The Lord's Supper is celebrated in our weekly worship services.
1 Corinthians 11:23-29
Matthew 26:26-28
Mark 14:22-25
Luke 22:19-20

At some point in the future God is going to Judge this broken world and do away with all sin.  We do not know when this will be, but we do know that when He comes it will be obvious to the whole world.  Those who acknowledge Jesus as their savior will receive what he has earned for us; forgiveness.  Those who do not acknowledge him receive what is only fair; punishment for their sins.  Many people today do not believe in Hell.  It is not a popular belief, but according to the Bible it is a reality.  God tells us that only those who trust in Him will be saved from eternal separation from God in Hell. Because we care for all people, Christians urgently strive to share Jesus with people who do not yet know him, so that they may attain what is not rightfully ours by worldly standards; forgiveness.
Matthew 24:3-51
Matthew 25:31-46
2 Peter 3:1-13
