The Gospel Reading.

John 1:1-14 (The Voice)

1Before time itself was measured, the Voice was speaking.

The Voice was and is God.

2This celestial Word remained ever present with the Creator;

3His speech shaped the entire cosmos.

Immersed in the practice of creating,

all things that exist were birthed in Him.

4His breath filled all things with a living, breathing light—

5A light that thrives in the depths of darkness, blazes through murky bottoms. It cannot and will not be quenched.

6A man named John, who was sent by God, was the first to clearly articulate the source of this Light. 7This baptizer put in plain words the elusive mystery of the Divine Light so all might believe through him. Some wondered whether he might be the Light, 8but John was not the Light. He merely pointed to the Light. 9The true Light, who shines upon the heart of everyone, was coming into the cosmos.

10He entered our world, a world He made; yet the world did not recognize Him. 11Even though He came to His own people, they refused to listen and receive Him. 12But for all who did receive and trust in Him, He gave them the right to be reborn as children of God; 13He bestowed this birthright not by human power or initiative but by God’s will.

14The Voice took on flesh and became human and chose to live alongside us. We have seen Him, enveloped in undeniable splendor— the one true Son of the Father— evidenced in the perfect balance of grace and truth.

Poetry in Scripture

Psalm 111

1Praise the Eternal. I will thank Him with all my heart in the presence of the right-standing and with the assembly. 2The works of the Eternal are many and wondrous! They are examined by all who delight in them. 3His work is marked with beauty and majesty; His justice has no end. 4His wonders are reminders that the Eternal is gracious and compassionate to all. 5He provides food to those who revere Him. He will always remember His covenant. 6He has shown the mighty strength of His works to His people by giving the land of foreign nations to them. 7All His accomplishments are truth and justice; all His instructions are certain. 8His precepts will continue year in and year out, performed by His people with honesty and truth. 9He has redeemed His people, guaranteeing His covenant forever. His name is holy and awe-inspiring. 10Reverence for the Eternal is the first step toward wisdom. All those who worship Him have a good understanding. His praise will echo through eternity!

God Dwells With Us

[info_box] John 1:14

14The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

8“Then have them make a sanctuary for me, and I will dwell among them. 9Make this tabernacle and all its furnishings exactly like the pattern I will show you.

God's Shekhinah Glory

Shekhinah is the English spelling of a grammatically feminine Hebrew name of God in Judaism. The original word means the dwelling or settling, and denotes the dwelling or settling of the divine presence of God, especially in the Temple in Jerusalem.

God Moved In

[info_box] John 1:14 (The Message)

14The Word became flesh and blood,
and moved into the neighborhood.
We saw the glory with our own eyes,
the one-of-a-kind glory,
like Father, like Son,
Generous inside and out,
true from start to finish.

Faith Of Theology :What if We are the Ones in Need of Saving

[warning_box]This Article Contains Advanced Ideas. [/warning_box]

[pirenko_blockquote author="Zack Hunt"]The hymns they chose have always had a powerful tug on my heart, but never so much as they did hearing them there, cloistered behind the walls of poverty. Through many dangers, toils, and snares I have already come. This is my story, this is my song. [/pirenko_blockquote]

Music Today: Young Oceans

[theme_button type="theme_button medium" link="" window="_blank" ]Young Oceans[/theme_button]

Before the beginning it is said the great Spirit of God in canopies of darkness hovered over the face of the deep the brooding potential of all to come stirring the waters down into the ominous void went the words of God creating space to be filled with water and life teeming first light on the young oceans vast the life it grew always on into the space beyond though the poisons came bent backs and nothing was the same except for God before the end it is said we the young oceans will wrestle no more with the deep dark glimpsing out like children before the sea we see what will be coming singing on the banks waiting together and telling winding stories of just how the ancient curse has lost its grip so all with God are young forever -Caleb Clardy
